I wanted to capitalize on my passion for nutrition and children with my Senior Honors Capstone Project.  This was a year-long independent study, where I created, designed, and implemnted a program that I entitled, "Courageous Cassidy to the Rescue!"  This program is being implemented at the Childhood Development Cetner on American University's campus with 16 children, aged three-and-a-half to six years old.  After the pilot program has concluded, evaluation and reflection of the program will occur.  Attached you will find the program plan, including background information, logic model, rationale, goals and objectives,  theory-based framework, implementation and marketing plan, Gantt Chart, and budget, as well as lesson plans with the corresponding activities and a sample story.  I have written four-short stories that entails Courageous Cassidy encountering various situations, and overcoming those situation by eating a variety of different foods.  The topics covered include: Vitamin C to ward off the flu, Vitamin B to give one energy, Calcium making bones stronger, and foods that help blood circulate.  Each story has a corresponding activity to help reinforce the information taught.  A pre- and post-test will be given to track the success of the program.
